Kawung is a four petal coffee flower and these pieces feature the flower in a simple batik pattern that was once reserved for the Javanese tribe royalty. Kawung easily mixes with John Hardy's Padi Collection, inspired by the beautifully terraced rice fields of Bali. Padi means rice in Indonesian. Rice is not just a food to the Balinese but also imperative to their culture so is very symbolic of life. The flower and rice motifs are worked into 18K gold, silver, and gemstones.
