MIKIMOTO South Sea Pearls:
With their satiny luster and rich colors, these pearls represent the pinnacle in luxury. Worn by the most influential women in the world, a strand of MIKIMOTO South Sea pearls is the ultimate symbol of elegance and achievement. Black, grey, peacock, white or golden... their sizes begin at about 8 millimeters and can reach more than 19 millimeters.
In 1914 Kokichi Mikimoto established the world's first black-lipped cultured pearl farm, allowing for the exceptionally sized and magnificently natural colored South Sea pearls presented by MIKIMOTO today. Rare and beautiful, with shapes from very round to baroque, each strand is a natural work of art taking years to grow, and a harmoniously matched strand can take many more years to assemble.
When comparing to other brands, consider MIKIMOTO (the inventor of the grading system) has the only formal grading system in the industry. When other companies call their pearls AAA or AA these terms are meaningless and DO NOT compare exactly to the rigorous MIKIMOTO grading system. Only a small fraction (about 3-5%) of the world's cultured pearl harvest is deemed suitable to carry the MIKIMOTO name.
